DCM Production Policies

Production Criteria

Production resource allotments and criteria are established to balance DCM resources and ensure equity and access for all members. Access to equipment and production facilities are governed by the following guidelines:

  • An active Membership and signed DCM Membership Agreement Form is required to access any facilities, services and/or operate equipment provided by Denver Community Media.
  • Take the class to reserve the resource. DCM members must complete the applicable certification classes to be eligible for equipment and facility rentals.
  • DCM members/producers will be assigned a member ID number. Equipment and facility usage will be tracked against that number.
  • DCM members/producers are legally and financially responsible for all Denver Community Media equipment while in their possession or use.
  • DCM offers reasonable accommodations for those that qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Non-Commercial Use

  • Producers cannot use Denver Community Media assets, including any equipment and facilities, or staff time (referred to as “assets”) to produce content intended for sale or for commercial purposes.  All content produced using Denver Community Media assets or resources must be made available to the public for free.
  • Producers may not use DCM assets to promote any commercial product, service, event or business, or for a direct call to action. This prohibition includes content intended for broadcast on community media access or social channels, online platforms, personal or business media, online or social media platforms, or any other use.
  • Guests on programs will not be required under any circumstances to pay fees to appear, nor will they be required to make donations or contributions in connection with any program. These are considered commercial practices.

Failure to observe this policy is a violation of the policies and procedures and may result in the permanent suspension of member privileges.

Fees and Refund Policy:

  • All fees for facility use, equipment rental and classroom instruction must be paid in full, in advance. The first step is to submit a reservation request online here for the specific resource. Please note that submission of the request does not guarantee the reservation will be confirmed. If a reservation request is approved (the time slot is available), the member will receive a confirmation email. Reservations will be confirmed upon receipt of payment in full.
  • If a reservation approval email is not received within four business days of reservation request, please follow up by emailing info@denvercommunitymedia.org or calling 720-337-4200. Do not assume your reservation is confirmed.
  • Fees may be paid in-person or on-line through your member portal here. . DCM accepts all common forms of U.S. currency: Cash, check, credit and debit cards.
  • Fees for Denver Community Media services and equipment are non-refundable and non-transferable. Unused classroom, facility and equipment rental fees may be applied to future reservations if cancellation is received by DCM staff with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Reservations:

  • Take the class to reserve the resource. To ensure the community access equipment is used safely and effectively, all members are required to take the applicable course before reserving the resource. These classes allow us to waive any expensive liability insurance that would otherwise be required. All courses are kept to a 3-4 hour duration to make them affordable and accessible to all. Once members complete the applicable class, they are welcome to reserve the corresponding equipment. Education and skill development continues as members come onsite to continue learning through hands on experiences and DCM mentorship time (included in membership).
  • Equipment and facility reservations may be made up to 30 days in advance.
  • Reservations are pre-paid. An equipment reservation is not considered confirmed until after reservation is paid in full.
  • Field equipment may be picked up and returned/dropped off anytime during business hours (Tues through Fri 11am - 7pm and Sat 9am - 3pm) as scheduled through DCM reservation system and/or DCM staff. Your pick up and drop off time must be confirmed by staff to ensure a staff member is available to assist you. Plan for at least 30 minutes for pick up and 30 minutes for drop off. Show up on time. If a member shows up outside of the scheduled timeframe for pick up or drop off, they will be asked to return when a staff member is available and may be charged an additional day for the rental.
  • Fees paid for equipment are non-refundable and non-transferable. Unused equipment rental fees may be applied to future reservations if cancelation is received by DCM staff with at least 24 hours notice.
  • If you arrive late, we cannot extend your session and we will not start the production set up without you.
