The City and County of Denver’s primary concern during this time is the health and safety of all. The City has issued an amended public health order to align with the state’s directive related to public gatherings and additional business closures. A Stay At Home order is in effect and continues through May 8, 2020. This Stay at Home order requires all individuals anywhere in the City and County of Denver to protect themselves and others by staying home except for certain essential activities and work to provide essential business and government services.
To comply with this directive, and to continue our efforts to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Denver Community Media implemented the following changes to operations effective March 24 at 9:00 PM. These changes will be in effect through May 8, 2020, or such later date as will be provided through notification on this website and through email correspondence.
Denver Community Media is currently offering Orientation for New Producers as an interactive online class. Technical requirements for the class include: Basic computer literacy, access to wifi/internet and a capable device with camera and microphone. A capable device could include a computer, laptop, tablet or cell phone. Class is conducted via Zoom or Skype and new members may email the ACCESS COORDINATOR to signup for the class.
Coming soon we will offer Field Equipment Certification as an online class. We believe that this training can be effectively presented in an online environment. We will provide information on our website for the technical requirements for these training classes and will provide notification through the website and email regarding the availability of this online class.
All other classes, including Editing Certification and Video Editing Lab trainings, are suspended until further notice. During this time we encourage members to explore DCM’s new RESOURCES page where you can find links to equipment manuals and video tutorials. Access the RESOURCE page HERE.
In compliance with the Stay at Home order, all equipment rental is suspended until further notice. We encourage you to still create new content with the tools that are immediately accessible to you – tablet, cell phone or webcam.
Denver Community Media will continue to accept content submissions through its online portals. We will not, however, accept in-person delivery of completed programming until such time as normal operations resume. If you have not submitted programming online previously, and need assistance with this process, please contact the ACCESS COORDINATOR with any questions and we will do our best to assist you through this process.
During this time of transition programs may be preempted to accommodate special live programs or programming of an urgent nature that benefits the community. If a producer’s program is preempted, the episode will not be cancelled but will be moved to the same time slot the following week.

We understand that these operational changes may cause an inconvenience to our members, however, the safety and health of our community is paramount during this difficult situation. We believe these measures are necessary to protect both our staff and our members. We will continue to update members on our website and through email of any changes in Denver Community Media operations.
