Field Equipment Certification classes will equip community producers with the necessary skills to safely and effectively operate Denver Community Media’s field production equipment including video cameras, light kits, tripod and microphones.

Classes Offered:

  • Sony A7s Certification
  • Panasonic DVX200 Certification
  • Sony FX30 Certification
  • Production Elements and Composition: Learn how photo and video recording works and how to intentionally setup your gear and dial in the settings to support your creativity. This course is an introduction to exposure, composition, and lighting. To take this class, members must have taken one of the above certification courses or bring their own camera.

Certification Training Outline:

  • General Guidelines: Equipment handling and care, producer responsibilities, SD cards
  • Camera menu operations & best practices
  • Tripod set up & balancing
  • Lighting set up
  • Field Audio: Connecting the Sennheiser wireless lavalier and hand held microphones & establish correct audio levels
Certification Requirements:
  • Set up camera & lenses (if applicable) efficiently and safely attach to the tripod
  • Set up wireless mics and establish correct audio levels
  • Test recording for picture and sound quality
